REMINDER: Thursday 29 February – Meeting: Converting a bike to electric

We will kick off with a round-up of local news. After the coffee break we will have a look at how you can safely add an electric motor to your own bike. Is this a better option than buying a new electric bike? What are your experiences of riding an electric bike – would you ever back-pedal and go back to a ‘normal’ bike?

REMINDER Thursday 25 January – Meeting: ‘Food, glorious food?’

We will kick off with a round-up of local news – what is coming up in the new year. After the coffee break we will have a group discussion about refreshment stops on our rides. We want to hear about what people want – long stops/short stops, pubs or café’s, bring sandwiches? Then we want to compile a list of the best places to stop for breaks – in north London and south Herts. This will be of use to those planning to lead a ride – and if you are heading out on your own or with friends. Been anywhere good lately? Anywhere to avoid?

Free Dr Bike service to continue between January and March 2024

A message from Ilias Ioannou, Cycling officer – Highways, Barnet Council:

Due to the success of the Dr Bikes in December in Barnet’s car parks, particularly among parents/carers and children, there has been demand to continue these into the new year.   I can therefore announce we will continue to run these through January, February and March at the following locations/dates/times on a rotating basis each month.

The free Dr Bike sessions will be run by qualified bicycle mechanics. Members of the public can take along their bicycles to have a free, full safety check, which includes the condition of tyres, rims, gears, brake function and tyre pressure and adjustments can be made if required, all for free. Both adult and child bicycles can have the free safety check and adjustments made if necessary.
