Barnet Council consultations hub: Engage Barnet seeks views on council plans, such as the Local Plan and the Transport Strategy, but may not include local schemes.
The London Assembly gathers views through its Talk London discussion forum, and influences the Mayor, whose Transport Strategy is implemented by Transport for London (TfL). The Mayor and TfL also work in partnership with London’s boroughs through Local Implementation Plans (LIP) and funding.
The Essential Guide to London Local Government explains the roles of the various bodies involved in delivering services to eight million Londoners.
TfL consultations cover London-wide initiatives, such as Low Emission Zones, TfL managed routes on main roads, Quietways / Cycleways and Mini-Hollands (now Liveable Neighbourhoods / Low Traffic Neighbourhoods). It does not cover ‘local engagement exercises’. The London Streetspace programme on red routes.

Planning Applications Barnet’s Planning, Conservation and Building Control is the place to go for planning policies and tracking applications.
To received alerts from the Barnet planning portal:
1) Go to https://publicaccess.barnet.gov.uk/online-applications/
2) Log in (or Register if you don’t have an account yet)
3) Search…Planning…Advanced
4) Enter search criteria, e.g.
- Development Type = Other Large Scale Developments
- Date Received from 01/01/2015 (leave the to: date blank)
5) Click ‘Search’
6) On the Results page click ‘Save Search’
7) Give it a suitable Search Title and select ‘Yes’ for ‘Notify me via email about new search results’
Useful searches include: Large Scale Dwellings, Large Scale Offices/R&D/Light Industr, Large Scale Retail Distrib and Servicing, and Other Large Scale Developments.
Also, when viewing an individual planning application, you can select the ‘Track’ button – you will be notified when its status changes.
