Barnet Cycling Campaign – building a better biking borough – part of London Cycling Campaign
After business and the tea break, we will have a discussion about what is best to eat and drink to improve your cycling experience. To kick us off, our own Dr Helen Vecht will give us a bit of detail about what we should be aiming for. Come and along and share your thoughts. All welcome.

We are looking for a few people to tell us about where they went cycling, what was it like, is it something they would recommend? If you have photographs all the better and we can show these. They can be short chats – 5 or 10 mins would be great. We guarantee a friendly audience!

We have been tipped off that Aldi will be having a special sale of cycle clothing and accessories starting on Sunday 29th September. See the link at the bottom of this message. This is not an official endorsement, but the clothing on offer is very competitively priced. Be warned – the good stuff goes fast!
A chance to get into the quiet lanes of northern Herts. With Malcolm leading, the group will head to Vanstones Garden Centre for lunch. Then head north through St Paul’s Walden on to a track for a bit of ‘rough-stuff’. Tea at Emily’s Tea Shop in Whitwell then back to WGC.
Meet: 11am outside the station (Howardsgate Shopping Centre – by MacDonalds) in Welwyn Garden City. Be ready to leave at 11am – come early if you want a coffee.

The plan this month is to amble north to St Albans to visit the Abbey and see its new Welcome Centre https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-48621049. This will be a relaxed pace ride – but not necessarily a short ride (about 30 miles all in). After leaving The Spires we will ride the 10 miles to St Albans without a coffee stop. This will allow for an early lunch at one of the many eating places in the centre of St Albans. The group will then go on to visit the new Abbey centre. Riding back, there will be a stop for afternoon tea along the way.
