| Please take one minute today to support LCC’s new campaign asking Sadiq Khan to ‘Dare To Dream’ bigger, be bolder, and move faster on cycling. Sadiq’s first two terms were great for getting more Londoners out on a bike, but right now, when he could be delivering big change, he seems to have gone soft on cycling. So with that in mind, we’re asking the Mayor to commit to four big, bold ideas that would leave a lasting legacy for London and really get more of us cycling across the capital. -Start monthly car-free Sundays across London -Make cycling safe for families in outer London -Make a bike available for every Londoner -Give London a low-traffic West End Take a minute and email the Mayor to call on him to Dare To Dream bigger today… To take part click on ‘Dare to Dream’ above. |

Funds Appeal (2)
Many thanks to those who have already contributed and experienced the ‘warm glow’ that comes from your good deed. This is an appeal to those who haven’t yet contributed and your chance to have the ‘warm glow’ experience. These funds help us to keep campaigning for better cycling provision in Barnet, maintain monthly meetings and other cycle group activities. Maybe you can’t remember if you have already contributed – no problem – just contribute again anyway for an extra ‘warm glow’ effect! After all the suggested £10 is not very much.

REMINDER: Thursday 29 May: Monthly Meetings
7pm: Campaign Group meeting to discuss local campaigning issues, including improvements to the A1000, the council’s Transport Strategy, and how to make Barnet a better place for cyclists. All are welcome to attend, so if you want to find out more, please come along!
8pm: Monthly meeting for all! FIRST AID FOR CYLISTS
After a catch up on local cycling news – and the all-important coffee break – Brian Atkinson will be taking us through the basics of first-aid for someone who has a fall or collision when cycling. Maybe someone is taken ill for other reasons – what are the signs and how best to help them? Come along and find out – one day you may really need to know what to do.
————————————————————————————————–
The pattern of meetings is the last Thursday of most months at 8pm. (Campaign Group meets at 7pm).
Topics coming up:
26 June: Report on riding the new Marcher Castles Way
17 July: Are you sitting comfortably? How best to set up yourself and bike.
If you have any suggestions for topics for these meetings please get in touch – have you been on any interesting tours/rides? We can provide a projector to show pictures.

All welcome.
REMINDER: 25 May London Cycling Festival event at Enfield
Some of us are going to the London Cycling Festival event at Enfield on Sunday 25th May. This is one of many events being run by LCC groups as there is no Freewheel or Ride London this year. For full details see https://lcc.org.uk/events/enfield-london-cycling-festival/
There is a feeder ride from Palmers Green, which meets outside the Fox pub on Fox Lane at 8.30am. I realise that this is much earlier than the 10.00 or 10.30 start times we’re used to.
If you want to ride there with others, we are meeting at 7.45am at the Tally Ho in North Finchley. It’s a four mile ride to Palmers Green, mainly but not entirely on main roads, but they should be quiet at that hour. If it’s easier for you to ride directly to Palmers Green or Enfield, that’s fine.
If you are meeting up with us at the Tally Ho at 7.45, please let me know. My contact details are below.
If it is difficult for you to get to Enfield, there are also events nearby in Brent, Harrow and Camden. See https://lcc.org.uk/london-cycling-festival-map/ for details.

LCC Barnet Cycling Campaign & Barnet Cyclists
Funds Appeal
Once a year we ask you to make a small donation to keep us solvent.
It enables us to have friendly monthly meetings, campaign for better cycling provision in Barnet and organise rides. Not bad for just £10, the amount we’d like you to contribute.
(Or more is even better!)
Please donate by direct bank transfer. Our account name is:
London Cycling Campaign Barnet Branch (not just “Barnet Cyclists” )
sort code 60-83-01 account 20225687 with your name as reference
How about doing it now, or putting a note in your diary, otherwise, like me, you may well forget.
Thanks for supporting us: peter R – treasurer
Barnet – Rights of Way
Mark Sumner, the Rights of Way officer for Barnet Council, came to the April meeting. He is in the process of collating Rights of Way to be added to the Definitive Map. It is intended to publish a map on the council website in 3-4 months.
Mark would welcome input from the group to identify any paths/bridleways/tracks that we feel should be included that would be useful for cyclists in the borough. It might be that we are not sure of the legal status of some paths that we use and it would be useful to clarify their status. We said we would collate suggestions from the group and forward them to Mark.
Please send any suggestions to alison.ewington@ntlworld.com . Give enough detail so any path/bridleway/track can be identified easily on a map. It would be useful to have any info on why it would be useful to be included ie avoiding a difficult junction, provides a good route to shops/schools. All need to be within Barnet – but they could be links to routes in Herts or other boroughs.
