First evening meeting of 2020. To start with we will deal with business as usual, have a cup of coffee with a chat and a chance catch up with what everyone has been doing. In the second half Ray Thorn will do ‘a show and tell’ about the bike he has adapted for night riding. And he does some extreme ‘night riding’!   Do come and share your tips for staying safe in the dark – bring any clothing and bits of gear you can recommend – or even advise not to waste time on!

NOVEMBER MEETING

Thursday 28^thNovember: Monthly Meeting   As the days grow colder how do you cope on the bike?  Winter drawers on – one big jacket or lots of thin layers? What material is best? Change anything on the bike? We will discuss all of this after business and coffee. Make it a ‘show-and-tell’ and bring along favourite winter clothing (bought any good gloves recently?) or any bits for the bike. All welcome.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH BOOKING – Must be booked by Thursday 28th November

Bookings are now open for the Barnet Cyclist’s Christmas lunch on Sunday 15th December. We have a new venue this year: Chez Tonton, 182 East Barnet Road, New Barnet EN4 8RD (between, and on, the same side of the road as Tesco Express and Sainsbury’s.) Lunch will be at 1pm and there will be the usual ride in the morning ending at the restaurant. You don’t have to come on the ride to come to the lunch.

After business and the tea break, we will have a discussion about what is best to eat and drink to improve your cycling experience. To kick us off, our own Dr Helen Vecht will give us a bit of detail about what we should be aiming for. Come and along and share your thoughts. All welcome.

After business and coffee, we would like to hear about your cycling adventures over the summer. And we need YOU to volunteer! We are looking for a few people to tell us about where they went cycling, what was it like, is it something they would recommend?  If you have photographs all the better and we can show these. They can be short chats – 5 or 10 mins would be great. We guarantee a friendly audience!

Then after the tea break Ian will run his stupendous Quiz – with stupendous prizes!! ……well as stupendous as the treasurer will allow). A bit of fun to end this session of monthly meetings before our summer break.  The next meeting is Thursday 26^thSeptember.  All welcome.

After the coffee break we will continue round the M25 in the company of Doug Nevell. This is a continuation from the April meeting, and we are keen to hear about the rest of the route round the south and east of London mirroring the M25. All welcome.
